Well, hop on your trusty steed, and let’s take a rollicking ride down memory lane, shall we? Picture this: the groovy 1970s, when I first hit the open road—don’t be hissing at me now; I wasn’t on a roaring motorbike but swishin' about on a Lambretta! First, I zipped around on a dandy little 125 Cento, followed by a 125 GP. But before you could say “vroom-vroom,” I found myself tangled up in the world of four wheels! And oh, the delights of a Mini Cooper! That cheeky little bugger brought more giggles than a barrel of monkeys! Fast forward to 1985 when the call of the two wheels became irresistibly loud. A Honda 90, followed by a VT250, and then a VF500—my garage was beginning to resemble a motorbike buffet! But lo and behold, the cars lured me back in, only for me to make a flashy reappearance with an R6 in 2000. Track days? Oh, you bet I dived into those like a duck to water! Then came the glorious chapter of being a track day instructor with Track Time Promotions. Imagine me, decked out in my snazzy leathers, teaching everyone how to dance with their machines! I transformed a Kawasaki ZXR into a racing marvel and strutted my stuff in the rookie 600 class. But wait, there's more! An SV650 found its way into my life, and off I zoomed to race it in the minitwins category. Now, while I’ve been busy sharing my wisdom through instruction to this very day, I took my long and winding path through Tracktime Promotions before bouncing around at Focused Events and settling down with MSVT. I’ve been flinging myself round tracks as an advanced rider for a whopping 23 years! And let’s not forget the last six delightful years of being an IAM Fellow member—where, just last week I danced through retesting with flying colours (phew!) But here’s the icing on the cake: I’ve gathered a veritable menagerie of bikes! Yet there’s one shiny gem I’ve always yearned for—a classic British bike— which at long last graced my life in late 2022! Unfortunately, it's been a tad shy in letting me take it for a spin, as my knee has developed a rebellious streak post-crash. So here I am, with my dream bike giving me a cheeky wink from the garage, waiting for my knee to be a good sport!
